Winter Weekend Get A Way Celebration

Tired of the cold, snow, sleet, rain and ice?  Head South to Miami for a Winter Get A Way.  Miami has a number of fun in the sun places to  visit and see.  Below are just a few to get you packing your suntan lotion.

Take off for Miami and spend two glorious days checking out the sights and sounds of this thrilling weekend destination.

First thing in the morning head off to the design district which showcases over 130 leading designers, contemporary and traditional furniture showrooms, antiques dealers, and art galleries. The design district is an artists and interior designer paradise featuring unique high end items.

After a morning of shopping stop by one of districts restaurants such as Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink which specializes in fresh, simple and pure contemporary American cuisine, Buena Vista Bistro for a true bistro, the kind of friendly restaurant-wine bar every neighborhood needs or for a some great tasting brick oven pizza or home made pasta try Mai Tardi.

After a leisurely lunch head for the art galleries of Wynwood which are home to over 70 galleries, museums and collections.

By evening you will be ready to head out for the numerous clubs and the nightlife of downtown Miami. Try Tobacco Road for burgers and blues, the Metropolis for its five separate mini venues and 24 hour liquor license or Studio A that focus on rock, pop and experimental music.

On day two of your weekend Ocean Drive is a “must-do” experience. Ocean Drive, Collins Ave., and Washington Ave. are essential for the South Beach experience. Ocean Drive is a great place to people watch and it’s a very lively atmosphere. The early morning light is spectacular to view the architecture of the famous art deco homes in the area.

Next stop is the Holocaust Memorial, a detailed sobering reflection of the large number of holocaust survivors who made their home in Miami.

For lunch, Lincoln Road Mall, an outdoor is an adventure with many sidewalk cafes where you can enjoy not only a drink and lunch but also people watch at the same time.

Finally grab some R & R on the white sand beach of South Beach. Here you will find the sun tanned, sun toned “hot bodies” that South Beach is so well noted for. Whether you are there to see or be seen no mini vacation is complete without an afternoon on a warm sunny beach.

Returning home you will be anxious to share all your adventures of culture and cuisine of the gorgeous, gaudy city of Miami.
